Conservative Friends of CANZUK ‘Meet & Greet’ at Party Conference

Good afternoon,

We are delighted to introduce our first Conservative Friends of CANZUK newsletter, and to celebrate our successes over our first year. We will aim to publish this quarterly, with special editions when appropriate. Thank you for your continued support.

Our work so far

The Conservative Friends of CANZUK was founded on the 10th of November 2023. Back then, CANZUK had been almost completely forgotten. It existed on the fringes of the conservative movement. Despite this, a group of young conservatives, Lord Hannan of Kingsclere, and Andrew Rosindell MP came together to resurrect the idea of CANZUK. To stand up and promote economic and defensive ties between four already close realms. To embrace our common heritage and call for these realms to stand together for the values we all share.

Resurrect we did. We founded CF of CANZUK. Our President, Lord Hannan, and vice-President, Andrew Rosindell MP, have been joined by eight more parliamentary patrons. We secured the backing of two out of the three leadership finalists (Tom Tugendhat and Robert Jenrick). We have hosted three highly successful events:

  • Our pre-launch event in the Carlton Club which was attended by over 150 CANZUK supporters, with the Hon. Tony Abbott as our guest speaker

  • Our Conservative Party Conference ‘Meet & Greet’, hosted by our President and Lord Frost

  • Our Conservative Party Conference CANZUK panel, featuring both our President and vice-President, David Moore (one of our Directors), and other distinguished CANZUK supporters.

We have recruited hundreds of supporters such as yourselves. We have fostered links with pro-CANZUK organisations across all four realms. Our blog continues to grow, with articles exploring many different facets of CANZUK’s potential. In short, CANZUK is back on the map, and it is popular.

Looking to the future

But there is much more to be done. In February 2025, we will host our launch event, bringing CANZUK to the heart of Westminster. We will use the links across the four realms to harmonise our work. This will ensure coherence in all our work across the realms. We are in the process of opening a bank account, which will unlock much-needed fundraising.

We will soon be expanding our efforts, highlighting ways that you, our supporters, can assist us to make CANZUK a reality. One way in which you could contribute to the CANZUK cause is to contribute to our blog. We are always happy to receive and publish suggestions for posts.

We live in an increasingly uncertain world. War has struck Africa, Asia and Europe. China and Russia are flexing their collective might. The United States is in a period of flux. Our European partners are increasingly unable to act on foreign affairs.

In contrast, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom are stable. They are outward facing. The CANZUK realms already have strong defensive and economic ties, bolstered by our common heritage. CANZUK presents the single best opportunity to promote and defend our Western values across the globe.

Thank you again for your support. With your help, CANZUK will succeed.

Yours sincerely,

Elliott Malik

Director and Secretary of the Conservative Friends of CANZUK
